Skating with the boys.

Owen has been asking constantly to go skating for the last month or two. Ever since we took him to the Oiler game all he has talked about was going to play hockey… we told him that he needed skates and a helmet first and that we would take him and Brandon to get the gear they needed.
After they got their skates they got to pick their own skate guards. Owen picked the camoflage ones

and Brandon picked the ones with a skull and crossbones. They are such boys!

Look how cute these little feet are!

Now that we have the skates on it is time to put on the helmets with a little help from mom!

The fit was a little snugger at the rink than it was at home so it took a little extra stretching and coaxing to get them on. I of course had taken the multitool out of the skate bag so I had to resort to using a dime, yet another reason why there will always be a need for coins! One more final fit check by Brandon.

Owen had no problems walking on the rubber matting with his skates, once he hit the slippery ice though he needed a little help. After a few laps Owen was starting to get pretty comfortable and was starting to push a little more.

Brandon was not too bad on his feet as well but needed a little support from mom once he was on the ice.

He kept hunkering down and was more determined than ever to glide and hang on to the bar. Look at that focus and intensity!

Grandma even got to hold hands with the boys while they took turns between skating with mom and I and walking around the rink.

After about 45 minutes the boys legs got “tired” and they wanted to head to the playground. Brandon wanted a ride around the rink with me before he took his skates off.

It was so much fun taking the boys for their first skate, everyone had a great time and big smiles on their faces… even the ice did!

Something strange in the neighbourhood…

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!
Owen recently went to his first hockey game. Our neighbours had Oiler tickets and invited Owen and myslef to go along with them. During the first intermission Nick (our neighbour) bought the kids the Oilers foam fingers and what a hit they were at the game. I thought that we should get one that Owen could take home to Brandon so that they both had them to play with. The following is what ensued. They put on their backpacks and stuck the foam fingers on and proceeded to run around like maniacs spraying and shooting Grandpa Stamp. As soon as I saw them I immediately thought of Ghostbusters only instead of using Proton Packs they had a foam finger and backpack.

They had so much fun with them they played until they were ready for bed!

Self Portrait Sunday – Something Cute and Something Creepy

Happy Family Day weekend everyone! In the spirit of Family Day I thought that I would post a photo from my family. Tonight we were to my grandmas for a Family Day dinner and like I have mentioned before my grandma is a photo nut like me. Her walls are filled with photographs of family, some are portraits and others are simply snapshots. Everytime I go over I love to look at all the old photographs and came accross this one. This is more a portrait of myself rather than a self portrait as I did not own a camera back then
This is my sister and myself all dressed up for the rodeo. What a pimp hey!

The following two shots are a little more on the creepy side. The one of the hand looks like it could be the back of a hand that has a palm print on it, at least that is the illusion I see because of the way the fingers curl.

This one is creepy to me just because of the crop and expression…

until next time…
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
In order to get this picture I had to enlist the help of a 3 year old. Owen was playing with play doh earlier today, hence the tie die play doh, and wanted to cut out all the different shapes. He had a square, triangle, circle, star, and heart. I stole his heart to use as an eye patch and have to say that play doh is not the stickiest of substances. That is the reason for the goofy expression.

Self Portrait Sunday – Urban Biking?

Looking for a portrait that says Active, Adventure, Corporate, Cool all at once? Well look no further this is it. Well ok it might be plain old fashioned tacky like the tie! This is actually week number two of Self Portrait Sunday and while I was not really sure what the photo would entail I did know that I wanted to include a dilbert like tie, or at least the appearance of being windblown.
Cue mountain bike from the basement, hair gel, spray bottle, necktie, and wire!

Next up was a freestyling all business serious look

And last but not least after all the “safe shots” were taken was some time to bust some moves and haul out the old bag o tricks. Pretty stylish eh. PS. the pie plates under the arms were achieved via the soray bottle mentioned above, honestly.

Until next time!

Monsters, Dragons, Bad Guys and Fire

Lately both Owen and Brandon have been a little more scared to go to bed. They are worried about monsters, dragons, bad guys and fire. Of course we tell them that Kosmo protects the house and will not let them in after all that is what puppies do! Our imaginations can get the best of us even if deep down we know there are no such things as monsters or dragons, the fire breathing flying kind anyway.
Unfortunately there is not much we can really do about bad guys but tonight when Brandon tells me he is scared a bad guy will come in the house I tell him “don’t worry Brandon daddy and Kosmo will keep you safe”. He smiles and cuddles me and it brings tears to my eyes because I know that I cannot really protect him from bad guys, at least not forever. I feel like I lied to him, although for a good reason, to help him feel secure at this moment.
Sweet dreams Brandon and Owen!

On another note, Owen has been making awesome progress in the “I gotta go…” department

later.

Self Portrait Sunday – A Country Star Rising?

I was recently doing a self portrait every night but that was insane. There is no way that I could keep that up and do anything else so I decided to make it a weekly thing and only do one a week. Lets call it… Self Portrait Sunday. The pictures may or may not be taken on Sunday but I am going to do my best to post a self portrait every Sunday, we will see how that goes!
So for this installment I wanted to do something with a guitar and the concept of being on stage performing a concert. I hope you enjoy it.

I had too much fun shooting this set. Do you think I have a shot at being a Country Music star?

Ok so I have no clue how to sing on key or play any instruments but that has never stopped other people from making it before. All I need is a super fab image and someone to manage me and I could be great! Well at least I had fun singing even if it was out of tune and no one was listening, and I think that is good… for everyone!

See ya later
