We had a storm a few days ago that was pretty severe. It was actually 3 different systems converging and creating heavy rain, hail, and pretty spectacular lightning. The Edmonton Journal referred to it as once in a decade storm. Of course it was so intense that I didn’t even try to take any photos as the lightning and thunder were right on top of each other and the thunder shook our house. As if I was going to stand outside trying to photograph that. From inside the house you could barely see out as the rain was so intense it was pouring down the windows and clouding any detectable objects.
I did however capture this photo from the following day of a system on the horizon using a 10 second exposure. I just kept running 10 second exposures trying to capture the clouds lighting up from the lightning inside. The cool thing is that it just so happened that I was able to get only 1 shot out of about 100 and there happened to be a fire truck passing through responding to a call with its lights on. That would be the red, white, red streak through the frame.
